Northwood Squeaks by Charger Men's Tennis

Box Score

With the new scoring rules in NCAA Division II tennis, a team's margin for error has become even smaller, particularly against talented opponents. The Charger men's tennis team went toe-to-toe with Northwood University Friday afternoon, but came up just short.

The Timberwolves won some close matches that proved to be the difference in a 5-2 win over the Chargers at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center. The loss drops Hillsdale to 13-8 on the season. The Chargers will wrap up their regular season Saturday at 11 a.m. vs. Cedarville on Senior Day.

Northwood earned the doubles point by the thinnest of margins with a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Michael Szabo and Brian Hackman played well at No. 2 doubles, earning a 6-3 win.

Players at opposite ends of the singles lineup came up with victories for the Chargers. Charlie Adams was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at No. 1 singles, while Gabe Kazt picked up another marathon win, 6-4, 5-7, 10-2 at No. 6 singles.
