Men's Tennis Tops Tough Spring Arbor Team

The Charger men's tennis team stepped out of conference play Saturday afternoon and ran into a tough Spring Arbor University team, but still came out on top by a score of 6-1.

Hillsdale won all three doubles matches, starting with the nationally ranked combo of Justin Hyman and Charlie Adams - ranked 45th this week - in an 8-5 win. The No. 2 team of Brian Hackman and Michael Szabo won by an identical 8-5 score.

John Ciraci and Gabe Katz cruised to an 8-2 win to finish off doubles play.

Nico Schmidt stepped in to the No. 6 singles spot and came away with a 7-5, 6-4 victory. Jerrt Hewitt moved up to the No. 5 singles position and played very well, winning 6-1, 6-0.

Some tougher matches awaited Hillsdale in singles competition. Szabo gutted out a 6-7, 6-2, 10-5 win at No. 3 singles. Ciraci pulled out a 7-6 win in the first set of his match at No. 2 singles, then clinched the win with a 6-2 win in the second set.
