Box Score

Depth played a key role in the second victory of the weekend for the Hillsdale College men's tennis team.

Key wins by Julien Clouette (No. 5 singles) and Gabe Katz (No. 6 singles) turned out to be a big difference in the Chargers' 4-3 win over Davenport University Sunday afternoon at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center. Hillsdale is 3-0 on the season after notching two impressive regional wins this weekend, one on the road and one at home.

Under new NCAA scoring rules, the three doubles matches count as one point towards the final score total, and again, this was an area where Hillsdale's depth won out. Charlie Adams and Justin Hyman kept up their winning ways with a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Clouette teamed up with freshman Brian Hackman for a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles, clinching the doubles point for Hillsdale.

The two teams split the six singles matches 3-3, making that doubles point earned by the Chargers all the more important.

Adams finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Clouette and Kazt each won their matches in straight sets, with no set coming closer than 6-4.
