Box Score

The Hillsdale College men's tennis team wasted little time in moving on to the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament championship match.

The Chargers defeated Davis & Elkins College 5-0 in Friday's semifinal, held in Owensboro, Kentucky. Hillsdale will now take on Walsh in Saturday's conference championship match at 2:30 p.m.

In tournament play, a match ends when one team clinches mathematical victory over the other, which is why this match finished with a 5-0 score instead of the typical nine-individual match total. Hillsdale won all three doubles matches, then used dominating efforts from its No. 5 and 6 singles players to wrap up the win.

Justin Hyman and Charlie Adams were tested, but passed with an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. Dugan Delp and John Ciraci teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while Milan Mirkovic and Julien Clouette were 8-1 winners at No. 3 doubles.

Sophomore Michael Szabo pitched a shutout in his No. 6 singles win, 6-0, 6-0, while Ciraci nearly duplicated that score, winning at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1.
