Hillsdale Closes in on G-MAC Title After 9-0 Win Over Walsh

A regular season conference title is just one win away for the Hillsdale College men's tennis team.

The Chargers took another step towards the championship with a 9-0 win over Walsh University Saturday afternoon atthe Margot V. Biermann Center. The win makes the Chargers 11-6 overall and 7-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Sunday morning, Hillsdale faces off with second-place Findlay. A Charger win would complete an undefeated conference season, clinch the regular season championship and secure the No. 1 seed in next week's G-MAC Tournament.

All six singles matches were decided in straight sets. Milan Mirkovic won his match at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2. Charlie Adams won by nearly an identical score at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Justin Hyman pulled off a win in a close opening set 7-5, then took set two 6-2.

Senior Dugan Delp won at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1, and John Ciraci was a 6-3, 7-6 winner at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Michael Szabo earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.

Adams and Hyman stayed perfect in conference play with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Ciraci and Delp breezed to an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles while Julien Clouette and Mirkovic were 8-1 victors at No. 3 doubles.
