Bio

Associate Men's Golf Coach Mike Harner graduated from Hillsdale College in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. A lifelong golfer, he competed for the Chargers Men’s Golf team from 1978 through 1980. Upon graduation, Coach Harner attended Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School from which he received his Officers Commission in February of 1983. For the next 20 years he served as a Naval Aviator at duty stations throughout the world retiring in October of 2002 having achieved the rank of Commander.

Coach Harner returned to his alma mater in July 2004 to serve as the Director of Alumni Programs. In May of 2006, he was appointed Chief Staff Officer of Hillsdale College, a position he holds to this day.

Coach Harner is married to his college sweetheart, Carin (Lama) Harner. They are the proud parents of three sons, Alex (Hillsdale '06), Ben (Evansville, '08), and Thomas (Hillsdale '12), daughter-in-law Ashley (Hillsdale '12) and the overly proud grandparents of Audrey Ilse.

In his spare time, Coach Harner golfs, reads, and tinkers- sometimes all at once.
