2019 G-MAC Men's Golf All-Conference Release

The 2018-19 Hillsdale College men's golf team reached a new level of success, and two of its top players were recognized for their controbutions to that success.

Josh Davenport was named the 2019 G-MAC Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference, while senior Liam Purslowe joined him by being named First-Team All-Conference. The postseason awards were announced by the conference office Monday morning.

The Chargers won two events, including the G-MAC Fall Invite, and qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament for the first time since being revived prior to the 2014-15 school year. Both Davenport and Purslowe were integral to that success throughout the year.

Davenport was named the top freshman iun the conference after finishing fifth in the G-MAC in scoring average of 72.9. He tied with George Roberts for the best single round on the team during the season with a 66 at the Music City Invite. Davenport had five rounds of under 70 during the spring season alone for Hillsdale.

Purslowe has been a steady, yet outstanding player for the Chargers throughout his four-year career. He finished third in the G-MAC in scoring average in 2018-19 with a 72.8. He had three sub-70 rounds during the 2018-19 season, but just as importantly, had only two rounds aboe 75 during the year. That's the kind of consistency that placed him among most leaderboards of any event he played in.
