One event. One first place.

That's how the Charger men's golf team opened the 2018-19 season, putting together a balanced and consistent performance from across the lineup in winning the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Fall Invite, held the past two days in Columbus, Indiana at the Otter Creek Golf Course.

Hillsdale won the 12-team event with a two-day score of 865. Findlay placed second with an 869, while Trevecca Nazarene took third with a score of 877.

Tiffin's Noah Barth was the individual medalist with a score of 212. But it was the Chargers who used excellent depth and consistency from some of their top players to carry the team to the top of their first competition of the new year.

Three of the top eight individual golfers came from Hillsdale, led by reliable veteran Liam Purslowe, who took fourth overall with a two-day score of 215. He shot rounds of 73, 71 and 71 to stick right with the leaders throughout the event.

Freshman Logan Anuszkiewicz had a terrific debut for the Chargers, tying for sixth overall with a 217. He fired off a second-round score of 69, sandwiched inbetween two 74s to put another Charger near the top of the individual standings.

Andrew Grayson tied for eighth overall with the finest performance of his career, shooting a 73-75-71 for an event score of 219. His 219 tied his career-best score in a three-round event, and it came at a great time for Hillsdale.

Ryan Zetwick was fourth on the team and 14th overall with a score of 221, highlighted by a third-round 69. That was two strokes better than his previous career-low round.

Freshman Josh Davenport sat in first place through the first day of competition with a 71 in his first collegiate round. He finished fifth on the team with a 224, giving Hillsdale five players in the top 20 overall, always a sure formula for team success.
