Al Watrous Invitational Results

A terrific second day of action helped lead the Hillsdale College golf team to a second-place finish at the Al Watrous Invitational, hosted this weekend by Saginaw Valley State University.

The Chargers finished with a two-round team score of 578, finishing 18 strokes behind event champion Grand Valley State. Saginaw Valley State finished third with a 579 while Findlay placed fourth with a score of 582. The event was held at the Bay City Country Club, around 15 minutes from SVSU's campus.

Hillsdale saw improved scores from most of its lineup in Sunday's second round, none more impressive than George Roberts. He cut 10 strokes off his first round score, going from a 77 on Saturday to a team-best 67 Sunday to help the Chargers jump three spots in the team standings in the second round.

Roberts' two-round score of 144 was tied with Liam Purslowe for second-best on the team over the weekend. Last year's conference champion Joel Pietila shot a 73-69--142 to lead the team. Pietila's score was tied for sixth among all individuals at the event.

Ryan Zetwick shot a 74-76--150 to finish fourth on the team, and Joe Torres had a two-round score of 152 to round out Hillsdale's scorers.
