Golfers Place 21st at 34-team Midwest Regional in Chicago

After a promising first day on the links, the Hillsdale College men's golf team settled for a 21st-place finish at the two-day Midwest Regional #1, hosted at Harborside International in Chicago Sunday and Monday.

The Chargers shot a 302 as a team on day one, landing in 13th place in the 34-team field. But Monday saw the team's score rise to 320, completing its final score of 625, tying with fellow GLIAC program Ohio Dominican for 21st place.

Malone University took first overall with a team score of 590. Lake Superior State took second, followed by Trevecca Nazarene.

Once again, Matt Chalberg was the team's low scorer, finishing with a two-round total of 152. He shot a 73 on Sunday, then had a 79 on day two.

Steve Sartore carded the team's best score on Monday with a 78. He had a two-day score of 154, just two strokes back of Chalberg.

Ben Meola was third on the team with a 78-81--159, followed by Brad Mitzner's score of 165. Joe Torres rounded out Hillsdale's scoring with a 168.
