Patrick Cartier Nabs Second G-MAC Player of the Week Honor

The history Hillsdale College men's basketball made Saturday afternoon came with some individual recognition for one of the team's top players.

Redshirt-freshman forward Patrick Cartier was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office Monday afternoon. This was the second time this season Cartier has won the conference's top weekly honor.

The highest-scoring freshman in the program in decades, Cartier led the way in the Chargers' 59-54 win at the University of Findlay Saturday afternoon, clinching a share of the 2019-20 G-MAC regular season title and the number one seed in this week's conference tournament. He finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, his third double-souble of the season.

Cartier finished his first full regular season with Hillsdale averaging 15.8 points and 6 rebounds per game while shooting a conference-best 63.1 percent from the floor. He also has connected on 41 percent of his shots from 3-point land, and started all 27 games in his rookie season.

Tuesday night, Cartier and the Chargers host 8th-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan in a conference tournament quarterfinal game starting at 7:00.
