WEEKEND PREVIEW:
After a single-game week last week, the Charger women's basketball team returns home this weekend to host Canton, Ohio squads Walsh (Thursday) and Malone (Saturday)...Thursday's tilt sees the first-place Cavaliers come to Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena for the only matchup of the season between these two teams...Walsh is the defending G-MAC Tournament champions...The teams last played in the 2019 G-MAC Tournament Semifinal, a hotly contested game won by the Cavs 72-70...The Cavs have a terrific team, averaging a league-best 87 points per game while allowing only 66 points per game...The Cavs have won three straight over the Chargers...Before Saturday's game against Malone, the program will honor its three graduating seniors, Amaka Chikwe, Sydney Anderson and Julia Wacker on the occasion of the final Saturday home game of their careers...That ceremony will take place as sson as warmups end, but before the national anthem and starting lineups...The Chargers had won 5 in a row over the Pioneers until last Saturday's 90-82 Malone win in Canton...That was a wild game that featured 66 total points scored in the fourth quarter.

An unusual schedule twist sees Hillsdale and Malone face off for the second consecutive game, slated for 3:00 Saturday at the Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena...The Chargers played one of their best two-way games of the season vs. the Pioneers in Canton last week, winning 81-60 in a game Hillsdale led by 28 points at one stage...In the latest point system standings, the Chargers are second behind Walsh...That also reflects the won-loss record standings, with Hillsdale a game behind Walsh and a half-game ahead of Findlay...Hillsdale leads the series with Malone 7-4, going 6-1 over the past seven games against the Pioneers...Hillsdale's home game against Walsh will take place on Thursday, Feb. 13, further quirks in the second half of this year's conference schedule...The Chargers lead the G-MAC in fewest rebounds allowed per game by their opponents, yielding just 31.7 rebounds per game to opponents...Freshman forward Patrick Cartier leads the G-MAC in field goal percentage (.641), 74 percentage points better than any other eligible player...This weekend the program welcomes back dozens of old friends as part of Alumni Weekend.
