The old saying "any road conference win is a good win" applies to the Charger men's basketball team.

Playing a team they've traditionally dominated, the Chargers found themselves in a dogfight until the final seconds, but came away with a 71-70 win over Ohio Valley University in West Virginia Saturday afternoon. The win finishes off a perfect road trip and start to the conference season for Hillsdale, now 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the G-MAC.

Hillsdale was able to overcome a terrific shooting performance by the home team, who shot 52 percent from the floor and 12-for-18 on 3-point field goals (12-for-18). Hillsdale countered that with a 36-29 edge in rebounds and forcing 18 turnovers while only committing 10.

Junior guard Connor Hill sank a pair of free throws to give Hillsdale the lead for good, 64-63, with 2:10 to go. He nailed a jump shot two possessions later to extend the lead to three, then Patrick Cartier made two free throws to restore a more comfortable lead for the visitors.

Four starters cracked double figures in scoring, led by 15 from senior guard Dylan Lowry. Junior Davis Larson added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals, and Cartier scored 12 with 7 rebounds. Hill finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
