Hillsdale Locks Down Golden Bears

Mere hours after completing an overtime game that ended in frustrating fashion, the Hillsdale College men's basketball team bounced back nicely Saturday afternoon, defeating Concordia-St. Paul 65-49, wrapping up weekend play at Wisconsin-Parkside.

The win makes Hillsdale 2-2 on the season.

The Chargers played a close first half with the Golden Bears, leading by just 2 points, 30-28. But the second half saw Hillsdale's efficiency go up on both ends, outscoring Concordia-St. Paul by 14 points, pulling away as the game wore on.

Three starters cracked double digits in scoring for the Chargers, including15 points from Patrick Cartier and Davis Larson. Cartier shot 5-for-9 from the field, and had 7 rebounds, 4 assists and a career-high 5 steals in a solid all-around performance.

Senior guard Dylan lowry led thw team with 17 points, connecting on 7-of-14 shots from the floor. He added 7 rebounds and 5 assists to his game. Forward tavon Brown added 9 points and a team-high 8 boards while Trenton Richardson came off the bench to grab 7 rebounds.

The offense was operating well, as shown by 17 assists on 23 made field goals. The Chargers outrebounded the Golden Bears 45-34 and committed five fewer turnovers in the game (12-17).
