Charger Men Fall to Southern Indiana

Box Score

An out-of-this-world shooting performance from junior forward Davis Larson wasn't quite enough to lift the Hillsdale College men's basketball team past one of the GLVC's top teams Friday afternoon.

Larson set a new career-high, scoring 29 points on 12-for-14 shooting, but the Screaming Eagles knocked off the Chargers 82-73 at Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena. Hillsdale is back at it Saturday night taking on Oakland City at 7:00.

Larson swished his first nine shots he attempted from the field, mixing up short jumpers with drives to the basket in a way that made him an impossible player to guard. He didn't force shots and read his openings well.

Southern Indiana held a big edge on the boards, outrebounding the Chargers 36-21. USI had nine offensive rebounds but also shot 55 percent from the field, many of them tough jump shots with the shot clock winding down.

Senior guard Dylan Lowry had 14 points and senior guard Mike Travlos came off the bench to score 9, making all four of his free throws. Austen Yarian and Trenton Richardson each grabbed 4 rebounds to lead the Chargers.
