It was not the Senior Day the Charger men's basketball team hoped for. But it will have another chance to perform in front of the home fans next week.
Hillsdale lost 76-61 to Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at the Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena. While the loss makes Hillsdale 14-6 in the G-MAC and 18-9 overall, the team will still enter the conference postseason tournament as the #3 seed.
The Chargers will host #6 seed Lake Erie College at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a G-MAC Tournament Quarterfinal tilt.
Hillsdale ran into a Kentucky Wesleyan team that executed very well at both ends of the court in this game. KWC limited the Chargers to 37.7 percent shooting from the floor (23-for-61) and 20.7 percent shooting on 3-point shots (6-for-29). The Panthers moved and helped on the defensive end of the floor and didn't allow Hillsdale many clean looks at the basket from any angle.
On the other side, the Panthers nailed 10 3-point shots and outrebounded Hillsdale 41-32 in the game.
Junior guard Dylan Lowry made four first-half 3-point shots and led the Chargers with 18 points. Sophomore Davis Larson was 5-for-10 from the floor and had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior Nate Neveau came off the bench to tally 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Hillsdale's upcoming home conference tournament game will be its first such game since March 2012.
