Davis Larson Named G-MAC Player of the Week

Davis Larson Named G-MAC Player of the Week

A fun conversation one might have with 4-year-old Davis Larson, in January of 2002, was that his future college basketball team wouldn't win a game at the University of Findlay until he was playing for it, 17 years later. And inbetween the snacks and the naps, one could also tell young Davis he was a big part of that exact game.

Larson, a sophomore forward on the Hillsdale College men's basketball team, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.

Saturday afternoon, the Chargers snapped a 21-game road losing streak to Findlay in a 93-82 win, and Larson was right in the middle of that drought-ending win. He set a career-high of 24 points, making 7 of 12 shots from the floor and all 7 of his free throws in the landmark victory. He also set a career high with 3 blocked shots and collected 7 rebounds in the Charger win, its first over the Oilers at Findlay since January 24, 2002.

The win also put the Chargers into a first-place tie with Findlay in the G-MAC as the conference schedule heads into the end of its first half.

He is the 19th different Hillsdale College athlete to earn a G-MAC player of the week award during the current school year.

Larson has enjoyed by far the best season of his young career in 2018-19, averaging 12.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 54 percent from the field. He originally hails from Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
