Ohio Dominican Defeats Hillsdale in Columbus

Box Score

The Charger men's basketball team shot a season-low 29 percent from the field in a 65-48 loss to Ohio Dominican University Tuesday night in Columbus. The loss drops Hillsdale to 18-7 overall and 12-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Hillsdale fell behind 8-0 off the opening jump and never recovered, and was unable to get into a consistent flow on offense throughout the game. The Panthers led by as many as 16 in the first half, 27-11, before the Chargers slowly chipped away at the lead. Senior Stedman Lowry scored 8 points late in the half to make it a 36-28 game at halftime.

Lowry swished another 3 13 seconds into the second half putting Hillsdale behind by just 5. But ODU responded with a 7-0 run to re-take a double digit lead it would never relinquish.

Hillsdale shot 17-for-58 from the field in the game and 5-for-16 from 3-point territory. The 3-point shot was a decisive factor in the game, as the Panthers shot 10-for-22 from behind the arc. That final number for Ohio Dominican is a bit deceiving, as the team made nine of its first 16 from that spot on the floor. Ohio Dominican outrebounded Hillsdale 45-33 in the game.

Lowry led the Chargers with 11 points and Nick Czarnowski had 9 points and 3 rebounds.
