Bio

Brad Otterbein will begin his 12th season as the quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator for Hillsdale College in 2023. A 2010 graduate from Hillsdale, Brad earned his degree in marketing management.

During his playing days, Brad was an excellent quarterback himself, starring at nearby Hillsdale High School and leading the Hornets to their first-ever playoff win and district championship in his senior year in 2005. He then committed to Hillsdale College to play for his father, current head coach Keith Otterbein, who had returned to the Chargers to take the reins of the program in 2002.

In five years as a player with the program, Brad served as the primary backup to two of the greatest quarterbacks in Hillsdale history: Mark Nicolet ('08), who still holds the single-season passing touchdown record, and Troy Weatherhead ('11), who is in the top three in every major passing record at Hillsdale and holds the single-season and career completion records.

Brad's experience at the position and his time working alongside two legends as a player have served him well since he returned in 2012 to take over as quarterbacks coach.

During his tenure, he's helped recruit and develop several prolific quarterbacks, most notably Chance Stewart ('19), a 2018 All-American who displaced Nicolet and Weatherhead at the top of several single-season and career record lists and added his name to the list of all-time Charger greats.

Brad lives in Hillsdale with his wife Stacey, and sons Connor and Theo. His recruiting territory is West Michigan.
