Oilers Bring Chargers' G-MAC Winning Streak to an End

It had been more than two years since the Hillsdale College football team had lost a game in conference play. That streak came to an end Saturday afternoon.

Using a lethal combination of a balanced offense and playmaking defense, the University of Findlay handed the Chargers their first conference loss in two years, 41-16, at Donnell Stadium in Findlay. The loss also snaps Hillsdale's four-game winning streak and leaves the team at 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

The Oiler defense forced three turnovers and recorded five sacks on defense, and accumulated 468 yards of total offense in a complete performance.

After Findlay scored on its opening drive, Hillsdale answered impressively with a scoring drive that ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Luke Keller to Alec Foos, putting Hillsdale in front 7-6. The TD catch was part of Foos's best day as a Charger, as he caught 4 passes for 75 yards.

Findlay answered back by scoring 21 consecutive points to finish out the first half to take a 27-7 lead at intermission. Another touchdown less than five minutes into the third quarter made the lead insurmountable.

Bryce Sealock kicked a 29-yard field goal and David Graham scored his seventh rushing touchdown of the season to finish out the scoring for the Chargers.

Keller completed 19-of-31 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown in the game. Graham ran for 64 yards, averaging 4 yards per carry. Junior wide receiver Konnor Maloney had a team-high 5 catches for 60 yards. Graham caught 3 passes for 43 yards while Alexander Giampietro had 31 receiving yards.

Defensively, Drake Temple led Hillsdale with 11 total tackles. Zach Herzog had 9 and Nate Jones 7. Seven different players recorded tackles-for-loss, with Joe Royer's 1.5 leading the way.
