This was a banquet unlike any other in the modern history of Hillsdale College football.
Since head coach Keith Otterbein returned to his alma mater, he's held the team's annual banquet the day after the final game of the regular season. Sunday's annual awards banquet was previously scheduled for eight days after the conclusion of the regular season.
Except this wasn't a postseason banquet. Because the Chargers are still playing.
Nonetheless, awards were bestowed upon several players at the event, held at the Searle Center on campus.
Senior wide receiver Trey Brock has made a habit of making history throughout his playing career with the Chargers. He did it again Sunday, being named the winner of the Roy Beck Most Valuable Player award. He's the first player in school history to win the award - as voted on by his teammates - for a third consecutive season.
Brock is Hillsdale's all-time leader in receptions (248), receiving touchdowns (39) and receiving yards (4,229). This season, he's got 71 catches for 1,250 yards and 16 touchdowns.
