Kyle Parran Named G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week

One year ago, Kyle Parran was finishing out his redshirt year as a true freshman on the Hillsdale College football team.

Monday morning, he was recognized as the G-MAC's best defensive player in Week 10.

Parran, a redshirt-freshman defensive lineman, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.

In Hillsdale's conference championship-clinching win over Tiffin Saturday, Parran was a force on the defense, finishing with 7 total tackles, 4 tackles-for-loss, 3 sacks and forced a fumble. He did just about everything you could ask for from a defensive end, consistenly applying pressure to Tiffin's backfield while making game-changing plays.

Two of his three sacks came on third-down plays by the Dragons. The second of those also resulted in a fumble recovery by the Chargers in the third quarter, helping them establish the second-half momentum that led directly to the victory. Parran had a tackle-for-loss and the aforementioned strip-sack fumble on the same drive, Tiffin's first of the second half, coming right after Hillsdale regained the lead.

Parran is a native of Petersburg, Michigan.
