Joe Philipp Earns G-MAC Special Teams Player of the Week Honor

In the final game of his freshman season, Hillsdale College's Joe Philipp had a terrific game and was recognized by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference for his efforts.

Philipp was named the G-MAC Special Teams Player of the Week Monday morning. The award was chosen and announced by the conference office.

The Chargers finished their 7-4 season 2017 campaign in style, shutting out Lake Erie College 54-0. A big part of that win was Philpp's accurate kicking. He booted field goals of 34 and 48 yards, the latter being a career-long and the second-longest field goal in G-MAC football history. He also went 6-for-6 on extra point attempts, giving him 12 total points in the game.

This season, Philpp scored 77 points, eighth-most in a season in school history among kickers. He successfully made 96 percent of his extra point attempts and 79 percent of his field goal attempts for Hillsdale.
