For the first time in modern-day Hillsdale College football history, a freshman was named the team's most valuable player.
Redshirt-freshman tailback Joe Reverman was named the winner of the Roy Beck Most Valuable Player award, announced Sunday afternoon at the team's postseason banquet, held on campus at the brand-new Searle Center.
Reverman, who didn't start a game until the middle of October, finished the season with 1,083 rushing yards, 500 of those coming in a memorable two-game span Oct. 24 and 31. Reverman rushed for 10 touchdowns this season, and ran for 900 yards in the five games he started. The Chargers were 4-1 in those games.
Reverman was also named the Most Outstanding Offensive Back at the banquet. Other award winners are as follows:

- One Play Warrior (Special Teams): Steven Mette

- Ralph Miller III Award (Linebacker): Jay Rose
- Leonard Urbanik Award for Scholarship, Leadership and Ability: Alex Fogt
- Howard "Champ" Messenger Award: David Galginaitis and Matt VanOpstall
