Pasche Named 2013 Team MVP

Hillsdale College senior linebacker Brett Pasche wrapped up one of the best careers any defensive player for the Chargers has had in recent memory last Saturday. One day later, he took home some hardware that was evidence of his excellence.

Pasche (pictured) was named the winner of the Roy Beck Most Valuable Player for the 2013 Charger football team. He was also named the Ralph Miller III Award winner as the team's top linebacker, and took home the team's Captains Award, sharing it with fellow co-captain Sam Landry.

Pasche finished the season with 121 total tackles, averaging 11.0 per game, both leading the GLIAC. He was second in the conference with 13 tackles-for-loss on the season and had 10 or more tackles in seven consecutive games to start the season. He is a two-time First-Team All-GLIAC selection.

Fellow senior linebacker Steven Embry was the recipient of two team awards on Sunday. He was named the Howard "Champ" Messenger Award winner as well as the winner of the Leonard Urbanick Award for scholarship, leadership and ability. Embry was a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's National Scholar-Athlete Award, one of just three GLIAC players to make the semifinal cut. He also earned First-Team Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America and is a nominee for the AFCA's AllState Good Works Award.

Landry was named the team's Outstanding Offensive Back after throwing for 2,509 yards in 2013, the seventh-most in a single season in school history. His 217 completions are the fifth-most in a season in school history.

Sophomore Todd Frickey stood out as an electrifying kick returner this season and was named the winner of the One Play Warrior Award for the season.

Senior Patrick Ryan was tabbed the team's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, while four-year starter Nathan Bundy won the Joseph M. Vijuk Defensive Lineman of the Year Award.

Junior Tim Moinet was the Outstanding Defensive Back for the Chargers, while senior Steven Harding was the winner of the EPEP (Every Player Every Play) Award.
