Pittman earns GLIAC honor

September 10, 2012 – Hillsdale College sophomore Daniel Pittman nabbed the school's first GLIAC honor of the 2012-13 athletic year Monday afternoon.

Pittman, a defensive back, was named the GLIAC Defensive
Player of the Week. The award was chosen and announced by the conference office.

He made a strong and immediate impact on Hillsdale's 38-20 win over Ohio Dominican University Saturday, intercepting a long pass on the very first play from scrimmage. That play set Hillsdale up for a 20-play, 86-yard scoring drive that began the team's run of 38 unanswered points to open the contest. He later intercepted a second pass, early in the fourth quarter.

Pittman finished the game with four solo tackles and six in all, and had a half-tackle for loss against the Panthers. In his first two collegiate starts, Pittman ranks third on the team with 14 total tackles, and has two passes defended for Hillsdale. He played his high school football at Grand Rapids West Catholic.

Hillsdale will play its second consecutive home game Saturday night against GLIAC newcomer Malone University, starting at 7:00 p.m.
