Steven Ring Earns First-Team All-Region Honors

2019 D2CCA Baseball All-Region Release

Last weekend, Steven Ring graduated from Hillsdale College. But the honors he's racking up from an extraordinary season keep coming.

Ring was named to the D2CCA All-Region team Wednesday afternoon. The D2CCA team is made up of players nominated by, and voted upon, by sports information directors in the Midwest Region. His first-team selection means Ring is automatically eligible for All-American honors within that voting organization.

The all-time home run leader in the history of Charger baseball, Ring finished the 2019 season with 18 home runs, 58 runs batted in, 57 total hits and a .367 batting average. Those 18 homers set a single-season school record and led the Great Midwest Athletic Conference during the regular season. He was the leading home run hitter on a Charger team that belted 78 dingers during the season, a single-season school and conference record.

Ring obliterated previous career records for home runs and runs batted in, finishing his career with 53 and 191, respectively. His all-region recognition came in the utility-non pitcher position, which he was eligible for because he logged enough games at catcher, first base and designated hitter during the 2019 campaign. Ring was named All-American following the 2017 season and was a First-Team All-Conference selection this year.
