Game 2 box score: Tiffin 7, Hillsdale 5

The Hillsdale College baseball team lost both ends of a Tuesday doubleheader to Tiffin University Tuesday afternoon in Ohio.

The Dragons picked up wins by scores of 19-7 and 7-5, dropping Hillsdale's record to 8-17 overall and 5-7 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

In game one, Will Smith hit his first career home run, a three-run shot that gave the Chargers an early 3-0 lead. However, Tiffin roared back, scoring six runs in the third inning and 11 in the fourth to break the game open.

The losses spoiled a big day at the plate for senior Steven Ring, the best power hitter in school history. Across the two games, Ring hit two home runs and had six runs batted in. He hit home runs in both ends of the doubleheader, his shot in the nightcap the three-run variety. In his career, Ring now has 42 home runs and 163 runs batted in, both career records by a substantial margin.

Jake Rhodes hit a two-run home run late in game two, pulling the Chargers within two after trailing 7-3. James Krick was 2-for-3 with a run scored in game two, and was 2-for-4 in the opener.
