Game 2 box score: Oakland City 5, Hillsdale 4

The Charger baseball team lost a pair of one-run non-conference games Tuesday afternoon in Indiana, falling to Oakland City University 4-3 and 5-4. The losses make Hillsdale 3-9 on the season.

In the opener, the Mighty Oaks scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to come back from a 3-1 deficit. The loss spoiled a quality start by junior pitcher Kolton Rominski, who struck out six and didn't walk anyone in six innings of work.

Senior Colin Boerst hit a solo home run and went 2-for-3 in the opener for Hillsdale. Rob Zurawski had a hit and a run batted in, as did outfielder Jake Rhodes.

In game two, all of the scoring took place in the first three innings. Oakland City scored four times in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Hillsdale responded with four runs in the top of the third to tie it up. The Mighty Oaks countered with one run in the third, which turned out to be the last runs scored in the game.

The top three hitters in Hillsdale's lineup - Kevin Monson, Steven Ring and Boerst - combined for four hits and two runs batted in. Boerst doubled in the game.
