Senior pitcher Will Kruse has been nearly unhittable for the past three weeks. After his latest start, possibly his best of the season, he was recognized by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Kruse was named the G-MAC North Division Pitcher of the Week, his first weekly award of the 2018 season. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.
In Saturday's 3-1 win over Cedarville, Kruse was on target, allowed no earned runs in a complete-game, nine-inning outing. He struck out a season-high 13 batters and walked just one in pitching the Chargers to their ninth straight conference win, a new school record.
For the season, Kruse ranks in the top 10 in three key G-MAC pitching categories: 10th in earned run average (3.18), third in innings pitched (45.1) and fourth in strikeouts (45). Over his last three starts, all wins, Kruse has thrown 25 innings with 30 strikeouts, two walks allowed and three earned runs allowed.
