Ring Named G-MAC North Player of the Week

Charger baseball junior Steven Ring is used to being around home. As the team's starting catcher, he's used to being at home. Over the weekend, in his first four games at home, Ring played like he was right at home.

After a monster weekend that sparked four straight wins for the Chargers, Ring was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week Monday afternoon. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.

Starting Saturday afternoon, Hillsdale opened its 2018 home schedule and played its first-ever games as a member of the G-MAC. The transition suited Ring nicely, who exploded offensively in all four games. He belted three home runs, had nine runs batted in, scored seven times and batted .625 as Hillsdale posted doubleheader sweeps of Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins.

Ring had a slugging percentage of 1.437, just an absurd number, even over a four-game span. He doubled once in each of the four games on the weekend, and moved into a tie for second place on Hillsdale's career home runs list with 24.

Ring is the 34th athlete to win a G-MAC player of the week honor from Hillsdale this athletic year.
