Ring, Wiskur Earn 1st Team All-Region Honors

Ring, Wiskur Earn 1st Team All-Region Honors

After having two All-American players a year ago, the Charger baseball team has two more players up for the same honor this year.

Sophomore catcher Steven Ring and senior DH Ethan Wiskur were each named First-Team All-Region by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Thursday morning. They are both now eligible for All-American honors.

The D2CCA program involves Midwest Region sports information directors nominating and voting on all-region candidates. All first team players automatically become eligible for All-American status.

This is Wiskur's second straight First-Team All-Region selection. He batted .358 in 2017 with a career-high 12 home runs, to go along with 45 runs batted in, 62 total hits and 33 runs scored. Wiskur finished his career appearing on Hillsdale's top 10 career statistical lists in home runs, runs batted in, doubles and runs scored.

Ring earned his first team honors at the utility/non-pitcher position. He was primarily a catcher for the Chargers this year but also played many games at first base.

He set single-season school records in both home runs (17) and runs batted in (63) during an incredible 2017 campaign. Back on May 6, he hit two grand slam home runs and drove  Mia single-game school record 9 runs during a 14-1 win over Lake Erie College. Ring batted .316 and had 16 doubles fro Hillsdale this season.
