Steven Ring Named GLIAC Hitter of the Week

Steven Ring Named GLIAC Hitter of the Week

In 2016, the Hillsdale College baseball team set a GLIAC record for home runs hit by a team in a single season.

The power surge, at least for one player, has continued into 2017.

Sophomore catcher Steven Ring had a huge weekend for the Chargers at McKendree, and as a result, was named the GLIAC Hitter of the Week Monday afternoon. The award was announced and selected by the conference office.

Ring crushed four home runs, drove in nine and scored seven times as Hillsdale split a four-game series with regional opponent McKendree. He had a .467 batting average and had an out-of-this-world slugging percentage of 1.400.

Ring currently leads the GLIAC with five home runs and 32 total bases, and ranks second with 13 runs batted in through three weeks of the 2017 regular season. This is his first career GLIAC award.

Ring hails from Northville, Michigan, and played his prep baseball at Birmingham Brother Rice.
