The second weekend of regular season play ended on a down note for the Hillsdale College baseball team, who lost 10-0 to Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky Sunday afternoon.
The Chargers are now 1-6 on the season.
The Knights outhit Hillsdale 11-8, not a wide margin, but the home team took advantage of its opportunities with runners on base throughout the game. Hillsdale stranded nine runners on base in the single, nine-inning game.
Freshman outfielder Dante Toppi went 2-for-4, while sophomore Colin Hites was 2-for-2 and reached base four times overall in the game. All eight of Hillsdale's hits in the game were singles.
Bellarmine scored twice in the first to take a quick early lead. The Knights scored in six of their eight innings overall.
