Chris McDonald Named GLIAC North Player of the Week!

Chris McDonald did it all last week for the Hillsdale College baseball team, and as a result, was named the Noth Division Player of the Week Monday afternoon. The award was chosen and announced by the conference office.

McDonald was on fire at the plate Sunday afternoon, posting back-to-back 4 RBI games in a split with Ohio Dominican. He hammered home runs in each of Sunday's two games, and had 12 runs batted in for the week. He had a .500 batting average (11-for-22) in the Chargers' six games last week.

He is the first Hillsdale College baseball player to earn a conference player of the week award since pitcher Scott Monterastelli did it on March 30, 2009.

McDonald also pitched well for the Chargers last week. He tossed a seven-inning, complete-game victory over Findlay on Wednesday, striking out six batters while walking none in the team's 5-3 win. Sunday afternoon, in addition to his mashing at the plate, McDonald pitched three innings in relief in the team's 12-8 win over the Panthers, allowing only two hits and one run in a high-scoring affair.

McDonald is from Livonia, Michigan and played his prep baseball at Stevenson High School.
