Playing under the lights is usually a fun thing for a college baseball player. Playing at 1:00 in the morning? Now we're on a whole new level of fun.

Even more so when the late night/early morning game results in a victory.

After getting battered for three games by Trevecca Nazarene, the Charger baseball team closed out its spring break trip on a winning note, defeating the Trojans 5-4 in the fourth game of their series in Nashville, Tennessee. The final game ended at 1 a.m. local time, which was 2 a.m. Michigan time.

The Trojans beat the Chargers in the first three games of the series by scores of 8-1, 14-5 and 11-1.

Hillsdale returns to Michigan with a 4-10 record and will play Lourdes in Toledo Wednesday night.

In the final game, freshman pitcher Phil Carey recorded his first collegiate win, tossing five innings with six strikeouts and no earned runs allowed.

Hillsdale scored all five of its runs in the top of the second inning. Sean Bennett finished off the inning with a two-run double that scored Connor Bartlett and Ryan O'Hearn. Bennett drew three walks in the game while Bartlett was 2-for-4.

Other top performances from the series included: Ethan Wiskur going 2-for-3 in the 11-1 loss and 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the 14-5 loss.
