Chargers Tripped Up By DI Eastern Michigan

Box Score

For the second time in recent years, the Hillsdale College baseball team got to play under the lights and in a Division I venue, at nearby Eastern Michigan University.

The Chargers were on the losing end of a 14-6 decision to the Eagles Tuesday night at EMU's Oestrike Stadium. Hillsdale is now 13-27 on the season, and returns home Wednesday to host Saginaw Valley State in a key GLIAC doubleheader at 2:00.

The Eagles got off to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Hillsdale was able to generate some offense throughout the game. Both teams committed four errors in the contest.

The middle of the Hillsdale lineup had a productive night. Sophomore Chris McDonald, having a fine offensive season, was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored. He leads the team in runs batted in, but in this game, was brought around by his teammates.

The four batters behind McDonald in the lineup - Lincoln Reed, Adam Ladzinski, Vinny Delicata and Joe Gentile - each had an RBI in this game. Reed and Ladzinski each picked up a pair of hits in the game.

Joe Chasen (pictured) was the starting pitcher for the Chargers and allowed three earned runs in four innings on the bump.
