March 18, 2013 - Playing a nationally ranked team for the second time in three days, the Charger baseball team concluded its stay in Florida with a 7-3 loss to Slipery Rock Monday morning. hillsdale is now 7-6 with conference play on the horizon.

Hillsdale fell behind 2-0 in the first inning and 7-0 later on before scoring three runs in the seventh and ninth innings. Senior Scott Lantis drove in two runs, bringing in Connor Bartlett in the seventh and Chris McDonald in the ninth. Luke Ortel, the team's hottest hitter on this trip, also had a run-scoring sac fly in the seventh. Senior Kris Morris pitched all eight innings for Hillsdale in the loss.

The Chargers are scheduled to host Grand Valley State Wednesday afternoon, though the recent snow and cold weather make that game unlikely to be played.

March 17, 2013 - The Charger baseball team didn't need the luck of the Irish to get a win on St. Patrick's Day.

Another well-balanced offensive effort sprung Hillsdale to a 10-6 win over St. Michael's in West Palm Beach, Fla. Sunday morning.

Freshman Chris McDonald pitched six innings and picked up the victory, allowing just one earned run with two strikeouts.

Nine different players had at least one hit for Hillsdale. Senior Brad Hayden slammed two doubles and drove in four runs, while senior Mike Vanchieri added two doubles. Freshman Geordy Smith racked up five total bases with a double and a triple, and freshman Lincoln Reed delivered two hits and scored two runs.

March 16, 2013 - Hillsdale College pitching held the 18th-ranked Florida Institute of Technology's baseball team scoreless for six innings in Saturday's game in West Pal, Fla. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough, as the Panthers beat the Chargers 8-4 in a 12-inning marathon.

Florida Tech outhit Hillsdale 12-10 in the Chargers' longest game in two years. The Panthers held a 4-2 in the top of the fifth, but Hillsdale scored in the bottom of the fifth and eighth innings to push the contest to extras. Freshman Lincoln Reed opened the eighth inning with a double, advanced to third on a balk and later scored on a fielder's choice delivered by freshman Chris McDonald.

Sophomore pitcher Jon Hanrahan pitched 4.2 tough innings in relief and shut down the Panthers until the 12th inning. Freshman Lucas Hamelink had a strong start on the mound for Hillsdale, striking out seven batters in seven innings pitched.

Offensively, freshman leadoff hitter Luke Ortel kept up his hot bat with a pair of hits. Senior Mike Vanchieri went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while freshman Tad Sobieszczanki drove home two runs. Sophomore shortstop Nolan Breymaier had a hit and a run scored for Hillsdale.

This was Florida Tech's 25th game of the 2013 season, while the Chargers have taken the field just 11 times this year.
