INSIDE THE MATCH
- Northwood led the opening set 6-5 when Hillsdale put up five straight points to take a 10-6 lead. The Chargers led 16-12 when Northwood scored four straight and seven of the next nine points to take a 19-18 lead. NU eventually had set points at 24-23 and 26-25, while HC had chances to close out the opener at 27-26 and 28-27. The Timberwolves scored the final three points to take the opener 30-28 for a 1-0 lead.
- The Timberwolves started the second set by scoring five of the first seven points. Hillsdale fought back to level the score at 8-8. With the score tied 13-13, the Chargers went on a 5-1 run to take an 18-14 lead. NU got back within two at 20-18, but Hillsdale scored five of the final seven points to take the second 25-20 to level the match 1-1.
- While the third set was tightly contested most of the way, Hillsdale took the lead for good at 4-3. The Chargers pushed their lead to six at 20-14 when Northwood fought back, scoring eight of the next 10 points to get within two at 22-20. HC responded with three of the final four points to take the second 25-21 for a 2-1 advantage.
- Hillsdale took control of the final set with the score 2-2, scoring 11 of the next 13 points to take a 13-4 lead. That nine-point advantage matched their biggest of the set. Northwood got no closer than six the rest of the fourth, which was won by the Chargers 25-16 to close out the match.
