The Malone University softball team lost on the road to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent Hillsdale College (MI) on Sunday afternoon by the final scores of 6-3 and 12-3 (5 inn.).
The Pioneers will compete in their final road games of the season at Ohio Dominican University on Tuesday, April 21 at 3:30 p.m.
Game One RecapHillsdale jumped on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
Malone would take over the lead in the top of the third inning when
Alexa Holztrager registered a three-run homer to put Malone ahead 3-1.
However, the Chargers would rally back to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning.
Hillsdale's Sarah Grunert would notch a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to retake the lead at 5-3.

The Chargers then singled to second base to score again, increasing the lead to 6-3.
The Pioneers had one more chance to retake the lead in the top of the seventh inning, however they there unable to collect any runs, which gave the hosts the 6-3 victory.
Holztrager continued with the strong hitting by going 2-for-4 at the plate, collecting three RBIs and tallying her fifth homer of the season.
Game Two RecapHillsdale took a commanding 7-0 lead in the first inning and it would continue into the second and third inning, scoring three runs in the second and two runs into the third. The score would be 12-0 in the top of the third inning.
The Pioneers would get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning when Holztrager doubled to left field, driving home
Lauren Searcy to make it a 12-1 game. Malone would then take advantage of a Charger error to score again in the bottom of the fourth, making it a 12-2 game.
Leftfielder
Marionna Cane singled to right field, which allowed
Juliana Shultes to score in the bottom of the fifth inning, but it wasn't enough as Hillsdale would take the 12-3 victory in five innings.
Cane went 2-for-3 at the plate and collected an RBI to lead the Pioneer offense.
