Bio

Josh Calver became a key part of the Hillsdale College athletic administrative team when he was hired in December 2016. In July 2019, he was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Business Management and Compliance, and in June of 2023 he stepped into his current role of Deputy Director of Athletics, overseeing many of the day-to-day aspects of running the Hillsdale College Athletic Department.

Since his arrival, Calver has been on the leading edge on a number of projects throughout the department that have brought it up to date with technology and various department processes, both internally and externally. He was the lead on implementing a new electronic/online ticketing system for home football, volleyball, basketball and track & field events, which went live for the 2018-19 school year.

Calver comes to Hillsdale from the Lansing Lugnuts baseball club, where he worked for five years in a wide variety of roles. Most recently, he was team relations manager, with responsibilities that included the box office and the team's financial operations. He also worked for the Lugnuts as the box office manager.

He was a college basketball player, having suited up for the Heidelberg University men's basketball team from 2006-10. He majored in accounting with a sport management business track. During his undergrad career, he was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, was twice named team captain and was a two-time all-conference selection. He was also the recipient of the Paul E. Hoeremann Character & Leadership Award.

After Heidelberg, Calver earned his master's degree in business administration from Tiffin University in 2013.

His new role at Hillsdale is a fitting next step for Calver, who has spent much of his life around athletics at both the high school and college levels. He worked as an assistant basketball coach at Marietta College in 2010-11, and previously worked for the Lake Erie Crushers minor league baseball team as a box office assistant. He also acquired considerable experience working with high school tournaments in the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
