Bio

James Gensterblum was hired as the new Director of Athletic Communications at Hillsdale College on February 22, 2020.

He is responsible for maintaining and providing content for Hillsdale College’s athletic website, issuing press releases for the athletic department, managing all athletic statistical and record-keeping, and media relations.

James is a 2012 graduate of Hillsdale College, with a degree in History. He worked in print journalism as a sportswriter and editor for eight years prior to taking the Director of Athletic Communications position, working for the MLive High School Sports Desk in Grand Rapids, the Petoskey News-Review, the Monticello (IN) Herald Journal and the Hillsdale Daily News, winning numerous awards for sports writing and photography from the Michigan Press Association and the Associated Press during his career.

He resides in Jonesville, Michigan.
