Taryn Rudland, '07

Year by year, Taryn Rudland and the Hillsdale College volleyball program evolved into a nationally known powerhouse. Rudland started her career by being named the 2003 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, then went on to become the Chargers’ first-ever NCAA Division II All-American, an honor she achieved in 2006. She led the Chargers to an undefeated regular season in 2006, a first in school history, and she was named GLIAC and Midwest Region Player of the Year. She finished her career second in school history in kills, first in hitting percentage and second in total blocks. In October 2006, she was featured in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd section, just the second Hillsdale College athlete to ever appear in that part of the magazine.
