Dr. Leo Phillips

 

One of the longest-tenured head coaches in the college’s athletic history, Dr. Phillips was the men’s cross country coach for 18 seasons, concluding his tenure following the 1967 season. Also a competitive swimmer, he won more than 50 medals at various Senior Olympic swimming events. Within the college, he was the chair of the philosophy and religion departments. Outside the college, he was the founder and past-president of the Hillsdale Senior Center.
