Gina Van Laar Lanser ‘88

A woman of the highest level of accomplishment and character, more than a quarter-century after her tragic death, Gina remains an example for all to aspire to. She earned a total of seven athletic All-American honors as a distance runner for cross country and track and was named Academic All-American all four years of her collegiate career. She was the NAIA national cross country champion in 1987 and was the valedictorian of the Hillsdale College Class of 1988. She was also named Outstanding Senior Woman and was the President’s Ball Queen. In 1997, one year after her untimely passing, the Hillsdale Relays track meet was re-named in her honor.
