Dr. Donald R. Mossey ‘51

Dr. Mossey began one of the longest and most cherished careers associated with Hillsdale College in the mid-1940s. He was a left guard on the 1949 football team that played in the Refrigerator Bowl after serving our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was later elected to the college’s board of trustees in 1966, and was named chairman of the board in 1975. He received an honorary doctorate degree in 1975, and in 1998, received the Freedom Leadership Award.
