The first 1,000-yard rusher in Hillsdale College football history, Bruce McLenna was one of the most talented athletes of his era. He set a single-season school record with 1,008 rushing yards in 1965, while also finishing second in scoring on the men’s basketball team in 1964-65, averaging 15 points per game. He was also a hurdler on the men’s track team. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1966, but tragically died in a military vehicle accident while serving the Michigan National Guard in 1968.
