1955 Football Team
The first of an iconic series of teams that set the highest standard for success and integrity for Hillsdale College athletics. The 1955 team completed an undefeated season, led by tailback Nate Clark, who scored a then-record 24 touchdowns and 144 total points. The team refused an invitation to play in the 1955 Tangerine Bowl when bowl officials insisted that Hillsdale’s four African-American players would not be allowed to play in the game.
