1938 Football Team

One of the great pre-World War II era teams in Hillsdale College history, the Dales rolled to an undefeated season under the guidance of coach Dwight Harwood. The team outscored its opponents 224-27 and featured the college’s first-ever NAIA All-American football player, Albert Rizzardi. Other All-Conference players on the 1938 team included Jerome Zaiser, Gordon Piatt, William Trau, Ronald Larson and Spencer Pratt. This football team had the distinction of being Michigan’s only college football team to go through the 1938 season undefeated and untied.
